The Computer Case Project

Painting

Priming

The case was sanded with different papers up to 600 grit. After that, the parts of the case that didn't have a smooth MDF board surface were primed. The smooth surfaces will accept the top coat paint fine without priming.

We also took the chance to drill out the holes for the fan controller knobs. We also found some nice aluminum knobs and potensiometers.

Coating

The inside of the case was painted in silver to reflect the light from the CCFL mounted in the ceiling. I'm not really sure how much difference it makes, but it looks good at least. The outside was painted in black.

The buttons seen on the front are the three optical drive buttons, the power button (left) and the reset button (right). The top LED is the harddisk LED (blue) and the bottom LED is the power LED (white).
